For the Peruvian knit cap, see Clothing.

The (Dead) Peruvian is a unique and powerful infected with very high health and deals strong physical damage. When bothered, the Peruvian launches an attack that grants him a movement speed buff then retreats into nearby infecteds, unless when he is alone in which case he starts switching between the direction the player is in and his desired route. And unlike other infected, he won't pursue the player.

In each of the zones (except 18th, Lakeview Lane, and Survivors' Camp) at any given time there is exactly 1 Dead Peruvian, and when killed it will respawn in a random spot, which may occur in a locked secret passage.

For most players, Dead Peruvians are a welcome encounter because of the very attractive loot. It is similar to that from bosses, except that it contains fewer survivor gear pieces but more algae. Currencies (except Fraise) good food/water, good weapons, Algae, Weapon modifiers and with enough luck: clothing, survivor gear, upgrade kits are possible. Please remember that experience, reputation or survivor mark vouchers aren't considered rare objects, so they don't make the loot bag stand out in size, so it's not unusual for Dead Peruvians to drop a small bag containing valuable tokens.

As with other strong brawlers, Dead Peruvians can be blinded using board games, fountain pens, monitors, flutes, kits etc. They can also be stunned, attacked with ranged weapons or intermittently, or with weapons offering protection like dolls, teapots, child creations, octopi, umbrellas, pitchforks, rubik cubes. Dead Peruvians cannot supercharge when nearly killed.

Killing him 20 times will award you the "Peruvian" title.

Dead Peruvians are called thus to set them apart from actual players from Peru. Dead Peruvians shouldn't be considered minibosses because that term applies best to the fireman and thug from the adventure and Museum boss - the (mostly) lootless bosses. So the plentiful Dead Peruvians are a separate category between mutants and bosses.

Unlike with bosses, there is no weekly limit on how many times Dead Peruvians will yield loot.

Glitch:[]

Dead Peruvians can spawn outside the navigable areas (in area player cant get, usually behind/in some objects) if he does he can be attacked, and he will attack back, but will deal no damage to players, and doesnt drop any loot. Also, as in the case of any loot, be aware that hitboxes of terrain features (especially stairways, shafts, elevators, but also containers you can't afford to empty) can potentially obscure the dropped loot bags and the rubik cube can't be used anymore to remedy this, so be careful of where you are killing them.

If he gets (very) near a (an un-lit) campfire he can be attacked, and will attack but deals no damage and doesnt drop any loot. Sometimes he attacks and does damage but still doesnt drop loot.

This is problably a glitch or wierd game mechanic, since any other infecteds near campfire work normally.

Locations[]

Every main zone (other than 18th, Lakeview Lane, and Survivors' Camp) has one Peruvian that wanders around the map.
