The catapult is a special infected that waddles (sometimes sprints) to the nearest infected and slides (hurls) them towards you, which may present a hindrance in moving past them, reaching loot or performing actions like consumption. Infecteds who are thrown into the wall can get stunned and receive minor damage.

A high-level catapult (level 20 or above) has another ability that stomps the ground and pulls a nearby infected into him.

Boss[]

Can be found in Sacramento Suburbs. This boss is considerably mobile, will follow players and the sophistication of his pathfinding is higher after reboots.

This boss has 4 attacks, using them as appropriate:

  • Hurling a gas bottle, at the nearest or most taunting player, up to the range of some 15 m. Deals a tremendous amount of fire damage on a 4m area. This can be limited through the use of fire resistance kits, the combo from a watering can or wielding a modern sculpture. This attack follows a summoning.
  • spawning 5 unstable Infecteds, they can incur damage from players, the boss and each other, resulting in chain explosions. They present the highest threat of all the attacks, because if caught in their explosion the player gets doused with toxicity, and also stunned for several seconds, and usually the next attack is a gas bottle hurl.
  • Spawning 5 regular Infecteds (sometimes one/some of them are special ones)
  • Nothing+arm fling (they do nothing for few seconds, after that they fling their arm witch deals around 75 physical damage to all nearby players.). When engaged hand to hand, the boss can persist in this fairly tame attack until stunned by the players, whereupon he reverts to the summoning. Therefore if you want to kill this boss quickly, especially if you have they have better physical than elemental protection, you may wish to avoid stunning it while it's in its arm-flinging frenzy.

Tip: After getting toxified disengage until you recover before you receive any fire damage (check out the status in the top-right corner of the screen), when you are burning make sure to avoid any toxic damage untill it extinguishes. At any rate avoid getting stunned by the explosions of the unstables, because it leaves you vulnerable for a few seconds and it also douses you with toxicity. Making a dedicated outfit with fire, toxic and physical protection from one from among the antibacterian, electrician, phoenix, minesweeper, firefighter, woodcutter, overalls, mercenary, maybe even footballer sets is worthwhile. Using the "Sturdy" passive skill also helps. The list useful protective weapons comprises: watering cans, modern sculptures, Chucky dolls, board games, to a lesser extent octopi, umbrellas, wooden protection, rubik cubes, rpg books etc.
